Getting the Most from Your Cooler
There are many benefits to owning an evaporative cooler once the summer heat descends on the country. The massive energy savings alone have made evaporative cooling a popular choice for many homeowners. Have you recently made the environmentally friendly cooling choice? Here are a few tips to get the most from your evaporative cooler!
One of the most important things to know about evaporative cooling is that airflow is required in order for it to work. An evaporative cooler will not work in a closed off room. It’s recommended to have an open window in each room that needs to be cooled. That way, the air is continuously replaced with fresh, cooled air.
Another way to get more “cool” from your cooler is to make sure you pre-soak the pads before running your cooler fan. This can be done by using the “pump only” option. Allowing the cooler to run for a few minutes before turning on the fan allows the pump to prime and the water to circulate, so once the fan is engaged, everything runs more smoothly. This also saves some wear and tear on your cooler, as it will not need to work as hard to cool your home.
It’s also important to periodically clean and remove debris from the cooler, as any blockages will reduce its efficiency. Check the pads for debris, and clean if needed.
